On Monday — and on the heels of last Saturday’s solar eclipse — love planet Venus leaves Pisces and enters direct, impatient Aries, where it will remain for most of May. While Venus moved through Pisces, you likely felt tender and wistful, maybe full of yearning for places you’ve never been. But while it’s in Aries, you can identify exactly what you want right now, whether it’s romantic love, fresh excitement, or just the pleasure of someone else’s undivided attention. The universe is mysterious, but for the next few weeks your desire shines brightly enough to cut through the murk of uncertainty. Take a break from second-guessing your impulses, from doubting the validity of your emotions. You don’t always have to be deliberate and wise: Occasionally impulsivity, even reccklessness, is the best way to get what you need.

While your goals are still vague and physically unformed, a bit of aimless wandering (whether, through your neighborhood, or intellectually, through stories and daydreams) can be surprisingly clarifying. You might feel like nothing is happening, like you should be doing more, but that isn’t true at all; You’re learning about the world and how many wild and beautiful possibilities exist in it. Often, you don’t know what you’ve been looking for until, by chance, you find it. This week, trust that clarity is coming, and that none of your time was wasted after all.

Whenever you grow or adapt or change your mind, it can also feel strangely like a betrayal of the self. With each step forward it seems like you’re leaving someone important behind. This week, what matters is that you don’t let that sense of melancholy distract you from the pride you could be experiencing, too. You’ve come so far and learned so much. No relationship, no joy can last forever in one form. And it’s up to you to choose whether life’s impermanence is sweet or sorrowful.

Lately, everyone keeps asking the impossible of you. No matter what you give, they demand more; No matter how hard you try, they still say that you’re holding something back. It’s unbearable to be told that your best efforts aren’t enough; It makes you wonder whether you’re misunderstanding yourself, your friends, or both. This week, though, consider that you aren’t wrong or inadequate, but rather that some people simply aren’t equipped to appreciate what you do. They don’t have the knowledge or the wisdom to recognize how much you give. Trust that there are others who will, and that you’ll find them if you make room.

There are distractions everywhere these days — endless small tasks that call out to be done, unimportant questions that need answers all the same, minor dramas that other people insist you care about. It’s impossible to avoid all of the busy work of being a person, but important, too, to save time and energy to put toward what really counts: what you value most. For you, this could mean creating art or falling in love or building community. It could be as simple as enjoying your limited stint on earth. The point is not that there is any one best way to live, only that this week, your job is to be discerning, and to treat your life like the gift that it is.

Even the most unsatisfying longstanding relationships can be difficult to imagine leaving; the most uninspiring plans can give the impression of being set in stone, inescapable. This isn’t because you don’t believe in yourself — in your own courage, in your ability to create change — it’s because you don’t always have faith in anyone else. You doubt that they’ll understand or support you. This week, dare to trust your community a little bit more. The people who love you will stay by your side. You’re not going to be punished for seeking to shake things up.

You can’t really know what you’re capable of until you’re forced to step up to the plate, can’t know how strong you are until you’re called on to use all your power. Try to remember this when you fear that nothing good or interesting will ever happen again, or that you’ll never achieve what you once could. Remind yourself that you have an unapped well of potential inside you. As you make your plans for the future, operate under the assumption that you can be brave and wild and extraordinary, regardless of whether you feel that way today.

Other people describe you as indecisive, but that isn’t exactly it. Really, it’s just that it takes a long time for you to decide what you want. You like to be sure before making any commitments or shutting down any possibilities. This means that you don’t always know how to react when you’re struck by a strong and sudden feeling, when, seemingly out of nowhere, your desires are suddenly, perfectly clear. This might go against your natural tendencies, but try to go with it. See what happens. Impulsive acts can yield rewards, and you deserve to experience them, too.

You pride yourself on rarely being wrong about people, or misreading a situation. This perceptiveness is a gift that has served you well through your life. But it’s valuable, too, to take risks, to give others the benefit of the doubt, to be willing to have your mind changed. Humans can surprise you. They can prove themselves to be more interesting than you predicted. This week, you have to expect that you’ll get it wrong now and then. This is no cause for shame, but an opportunity for happiness that you never saw coming.

Despite your recent dreams, you absolutely have not forgotten how to be brave. You can remember moments in the past when you moved with perfect boldness and clarity, but you feel disconnected from that person now. So many walls have sprung up to contain you, so many new fears hold you back. So this week, practice acting with courage again. Put yourself out there. You might get the results you’re looking for, but the real point is that you’re strengthening your risk-taking muscles again. You’re remembering the rush, the satisfaction, that boldness brings.

You’ve been told before that in order to be respected, you must never show doubt; that in order to advance in the world, you must be commanding, determining, certain. Perhaps there’s a certain truth to this, but it’s also important to consider whether you want that kind of respect or achievement in the first place. If you’re feeling crushed by the weight of your responsibilities, this week will offer opportunities for levity, for curiosity, for a bit of much-needed fun. You can live an honorable life and still make a “bad” decision once in a while. You’re freer than you imagine yourself to be.

Recently, you’ve been stuck, and dreaming about ways that your existence could change in a flash. You keep waiting for the big opportunity that will open every door, for your one shining moment to alter your destiny. But this week is not about focusing on the big picture, or the grand narrative arc of your life. Instead, try to think smaller. There are opportunities every single day for you to be brave or follow your curiosity or prioritize love. You feel so much pressure to reinvent the universe, but that isn’t your job. It’s enough to live well and be good to others each day.

We all do certain things for others out of pure obligation, or an imagined sense that saying no would be rude. It’s not necessarily bad; We live on this planet together, and our own happiness is connected with the wellbeing of those around us. But sometimes, you worry that people only value you for your selflessness, your willingness to support their needs at the expense of your own. This week, your task is to cut down on the things you do only out of guilt. The more you say no, the more valuable and meaningful it is when you decide to say yes.
