A shooting involving the Rhode Island State Police in Woonsocket was the focus of an investigation on Wednesday night, according to state police Col. James Manni.
Manni also confirmed that the state’s protocol for the investigation of officer-involved shootings has been initiated. He said he had no further comment.
The state police have scheduled a news conference at 3 pm Thto provide information.
Through the evening, state police and investigators from the office of Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha processed an outdoor scene on North Main Street between West School Street and East School Street.
Tow truck operators were on the scene with expectations to remove two vehicles.
