Person shot to death at Chester truck stop; one suspect in custody, the other on the run

CHESTER — A suspect is in custody and another on the run following a fatal shooting Sunday night at a Chester truck stop.

Chesterfield Police have not named either the victim or the apprehended suspect in the shooting, which occurred around 6:05 pm at the Pilot Travel Center on Ruffin Mill Road just off Interstate 95. Officers arriving at the scene found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and were told by witnesses that a car with two men inside had just fled the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a local hospital.

Police said the suspect vehicle was later involved in an accident at the intersection of West Hundred Road and Route One. One of the suspects was caught, but the other fled on foot.

The suspect on the run is described as 6-feet-3, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and red gym shorts.

No other details of the incident have been released.
