Tuesday night’s game between the Guardians and San Diego Padres has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The game will be made up as a traditional doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 1:10 pm
Zach Plesac, Tuesday’s scheduled starter, will pitch in the first game following by Cal Quantrill in the second game. Former Cleveland starter Mike Clevinger will start the first game for the Padres, his first outing in Cleveland since the 2020 trade that send him to San Diego.
The doubleheader and upcoming schedule will force the Guardians to figure out a starter for Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Guardians signed outfielder Anthony Alford to a minor league deal Tuesday and assigned him to Triple-A Columbus.
Alford, a third-round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2012 draft, has spent parts of six seasons in the majors with the Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates. Alford has a career .209 average and .643 OPS at the major-league level.
